Born to Richard Arthur and Muriel Anthony Hopkins was a slow
learner academically and a ungregarious child. Professionally, he
started at the RADA and later joined the National Theatre under
Sir Laurence Olivier. He won two Emmy s, as Bruno
Hauptmann in Lindbergh Kidnapping Case, The (1976) (TV)
and as Hitler in Bunker, The (1981) (TV), and a Best Actor
Academy as Hannibal Lecter in
Silence of the Lambs, The (1991). Tony lived in
California, United States, for about ten years (1974-84).
