Cheech Marin was born: 13 July 1946, Los Angeles, California.
He was a member of the comedy team Cheech & Chong, who always played stoned hippies. In the early 1970s, they released a series of comedy albums Up in Smoke (1978), which brought them to the silver screen. Several quasi-sequels followed: Cheech & Chong's Next Movie (1980), Cheech & Chong's Nice Dreams (1981), Cheech & Chong's Still Smokin' (1983), Cheech & Chong's The Corsican Brothers (1984). They also appeared in It Came From Hollywood (1982), Yellowbeard (1983), and After Hours (1985). They broke up the act in 1985, with Chong kgoing on to star in and direct Far Out Man (1990) and Marin writing and directing Born in East L.A (1987), in which he starred as well. He has also appeared in Ghostbusters II, Rude Awakening (a C&C-type throwback), Troop Beverly Hills (all 1989), and The Shrimp on the Barbie (1990). Marin has also appeared on the TV series "Golden Palace" and "Nash Bridges".
