Yancey Arias was born in in New York City.
Filled with ambition and hunger to learn more, Yancey went on to study acting and Music Theater at Carnegie Mellon University for the next 2 years. He continued to pursue his career and add more credits to his already growing resume. While Yancey was in High School he had done a few commercials and voice-overs. In college he began to do some film and TV work. It was in 1992 when Miss Saigon the Broadway show offered him a job as an understudy and ensemble member. Over the next 8 years Yancey performed in 27 film, theater, and TV productions. Six of those years he did a large part of his TV work while doing Miss Saigon, where he eventually took over the principal role of Thuy for 4 out of those 6 years. He is forever thankful to the understanding and supportive production team of that show. Some of his credits include guest starring and feature roles in New York Undercover, NYPD Blue, One Life To Live, Law & Order, Swift Justice, Promised Land, The Sopranos, The Education of Matt Waters, Criminal Justice, Destination Unknown, and much more.
Inspired by what people like Edward James Olmos, John Leguizamo, and Marc Anthony did for themselves in film and music, he coproduced and starred in two of his own films: Destination Unknown- winner for Best Independent at the '97 Hampton Film Festival, and The Home Invaders.
