Wings Hauser was born in Hollywood, California, USA. He's probably the big screen's premier psychotic-at least judging from his over-the-top performances as villains in Vice Squad (1982), Tough Guys Don't Dance (1987), and L.A. Bounty (1989)-but this curly-haired, dimpled, and baby-faced character actor and leading man originally achieved prominence in a steady role on the TV soap opera "The Young and the Restless" (1977-81). Hauser leaped to the pantheon of great screen psychos as a despicable, murderous pimp in Vice Squad (1982), and thereafter worked almost exclusively in movies. He appeared in Uncommon Valor (1983), A Soldier's Story (1984), and Hostage (1987), although he seldom works in mainstream films anymore. He's one of the busiest B-movie actors around, alternating between heroic and villainous roles in made-for-home-video epics such as The Carpenter (1988), Street Asylum (1989), Bedroom Eyes II (1990), Frame Up (1991), and Frame Up II: The Cover-Up (1992). Hauser's sympathetic leads are hard-edged characters, and he still incorporates some of his distinctive, wide-eyed nuttiness into his performances. His recurring role as a next door neighbor on TV's "Roseanne" probably earned him a bigger audience than all his films put together.
