George Dzundza was born in Rosenheim, Germany. This genial, roly-poly character player takes a nononsense, street-smart approach to his acting. His movie credits date back to 1978 and The Deer Hunter but it's only been within the last few years that Dzundza has really started to establish himself. Usually seen in blue-collar roles or as cops, he did a standout job in Sondra Locke's crimedrama Impulse (1990), and garnered good reviews for his work in the TV series "Law and Order" (1990-91). His other films include Best Defense (1984), No Mercy (1986), The Beast (1988), and White Hunter, Black Heart (1990, as a Sam Spiegel-inspired movie producer, complete with dialect). Dzundza scored big as the lovesick meat-cutter in The Butcher's Wife (1991), and again just a few months later as Michael Douglas' cop partner in Basic Instinct (1992).
